Why Integrated Therapy Matters at Blue Umbrella Psychiatry

Why Integrated Therapy Matters at Blue Umbrella Psychiatry

At Blue Umbrella Psychiatry, Dr. Eric Robbins believes that mental health care is more than just prescribing medications. While medication can be a vital part of treatment, lasting healing and wellness often come from combining psychiatry with quality therapy—addressing both the biological and emotional aspects of mental health.

The Importance of Therapy in Psychiatry

Mental health conditions are complex. Medication helps balance brain chemistry, but therapy provides tools to:

  • Understand and process emotions

  • Develop coping strategies

  • Improve relationships and communication

  • Address past trauma or life challenges

  • Build resilience and support lasting change

By integrating therapy directly into our psychiatry practice, we create a coordinated, holistic approach where providers communicate closely and collaborate on your care.

Our Dedicated Therapy Team

Our experienced therapists are an essential part of this integrated model, offering specialized care for children, teens, adults, and families. They bring a variety of skills and perspectives, including bilingual therapy, trauma-informed approaches, and family systems work.

Our team includes:

  • Jesimar El Yamel, LMHC, our lead therapist and bilingual provider who oversees our intern program.

  • Daphkar Dubreuil, LMHC

  • Lea Solorzano, RMFTI

  • Christine Altidor, Telehealth Therapist

  • Luciana Wimbish, LMHC, specializing in children, teens, and families

Supporting Future Therapists and Expanding Access

Through our partnership with Nova Southeastern University, Jesimar supervises graduate-level therapy interns completing their clinical hours. This program expands access to care by offering therapy at lower costs on a sliding scale for eligible clients.

If you’re seeking affordable therapy options, therapy with our interns may be a great fit — with the assurance of expert supervision.

How to Access Integrated Care

Whether you’re interested in starting medication, therapy, or both, our team works together to create personalized treatment plans that fit your unique needs.

Adolescence is a critical time for social development. Many teens experience anxiety, social discomfort, or avoidance behaviors that can impact their ability to engage with peers confidently. Blue Umbrella Psychiatry is excited to introduce the Vibe & Thrive Teen Social Skills Group, designed for teens aged 13–17 to practice social skills, reduce anxious thoughts, and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

While physical health goals often take center stage, mental health is equally important. Prioritizing emotional wellness, resilience, and personal growth can set the tone for a fulfilling 2026.
